Grey Room is proud to announce its 2014 season lineup of six world premiere events, including two mainstage premieres of original plays by Jake Winn and Josh Brown, as well as the return of Exploded Shakespeare & Grey Room’s first Sketch Show in a year and a half.
The lineup is as follows:
50 Shades of Grey Room, Part Deux: Even More Shadier. A return to sketchy form – a second evening of sketchy comedy, presented and directed by Mike Wesolowski of Captain Soldier and Playing With Reality. BYOC (bring your own cuffs). Late January / Early February.
Hollaback Girl (Workshop). A one-woman show written and performed by Paige Goodloe, seen in Grey Room’s Tallgrass Gothic, Exploded Shakespeare, and VIRAL. An explosive exploration of street harassment and sexual harassment in New York City, and how rape culture seeps through the cracks. Spring.
Workplace Professional. An original comedy by Josh Brown. Interns, battling against impossible odds to claim the most coveted prize in the modern workplace: a staff job. Directed by Jake Beckhard. Spring and Early Summer.
Exploded Shakespeare: Second Annual. Shakespeare, remixed. See the words of the bard woven seamlessly with the words of Helga Pataki, Travis Bickel, and Rodgers & Hammerstein. Performed publicly at the open-air High Line Amphitheater. Play to be announced later this year. Summer.
Subway Play (Workshop). The stories, overlapping and complex, which pass through a single subway car en route from one end of its line to the other. Directed by Sharone Halevy, written by Matthew Minnicino and devised by the company. Fall.
Blood Club. What happens when Dead Poets’ Society meets Lord of the Flies. Youth, drama, passion, violence, desire, and a whole lot of blood. An original drama from Jake Winn, directed by Michael Puckett. Late Fall / Winter.
